We’ll give you a sea chart with suggested kayaking routes that take you through the most amazing areas of our archipelago.

You can easily bring your own kayaks to Støtt on board the express boat (NEX, Skarstind); many of these express boats are now equipped with a dedicated kayak rack. Alternatively, if you are travelling by car, you have the option of bringing both your kayak and vehicle on the freighter, Fjordlast II. You can also park your car on the mainland, and we’ll tow your kayaks here.

Kayaks are, of course, available for hire right here at Støtt Brygge. We have one-man kayaks, and all the equipment you need including drysuits. A chart of nearby waters is included when you rent a kayak.
Here is what is included in your Støtt kayaking package:
Kayak rental with equipment and drysuit
An overnight stay in a double room in Rorbua, with buffet breakfast
Two-course dinner, two packed lunches
Chart of the surrounding waters, with suggested routes
Prices for kayak rental only:
One-man kayak with a spraycover, life vest, paddles and sponge.
  • One day: NOK 500
  • 2 days: NOK 850
  • 3 days: NOK 1.100
  • 4 days: NOK 1.300
  • One week: NOK 1.900
You can also rent a drysuit – we’ll give you a good deal.
Know before you go:
  • It is a requirement to have valid travel insurance and that you make sure that you have sufficient insurance coverage for all activities you participate in.

Package offer for kayakers:

We offer a two-day package for kayakers. It includes kayak rental with equipment and drysuit, an overnight stay in a double room in Rorbua (the Norwegian name for fishermen’s quarters), a two-course dinner, our buffet breakfast, and two packed lunches for your kayaking excursions. Also included is a sea chart with suggested kayaking routes.

You may upgrade this package to a three-course dinner and accommodation in our more luxurious and newly restored old bakery, Bakeriet. The upgrade costs NOK 250.

We also offer a more reasonably priced alternative, with accommodation in a lavvo (a traditional Sámi tent) at our Base Camp, situated a five-minute walk from our harbour. That package price is only NOK 2490. (For this package, there is a supplement of NOK 140 for our buffet breakfast, and NOK 30 for showers.)
Please note:
To rent a kayak, you must present a Wet Card from NPF (the Norwegian Canoe and Kayaking Association) or similar certificate, as well as show that you have travel insurance with coverage for activities such as kayaking.
Some of the islets of our archipelago are part of a beautiful nature reserve, which you are welcome to explore by kayak. However, because this is a major bird nesting area, you are not permitted to go ashore in the period between 15 April and 15 September.
What you need to bring:
Two layers of woollen underwear.
Sunglasses, and a helmet if you have one.
Nuts, fruit, chocolate, biscuits or other snack for your excursion.
